ABOUT

Tracy Robb is a digital illustrator and professor working in southwest Indiana:

I began work on the illustrated series "Mythologies" through a piecing together of antique machines and ephemera gathered from my camera mixed with dream fodder and family photos. All of these elements combined reconstruct a mythology that is extremely personal on one level yet each image is open to interpretation. The connection that happens between the viewer and the art has always been key.
I strive to create narratives with these images that are haunting, yet show a glimmer of hope. The montages are constructed realities of memories with an inherent surrealism that is at first unsettling but triggers a comforting nostalgia.

Along with the machine and of equal importance is the landscape, our connection to it and weather. In my vacation series I am exploring those connections and the feelings of loneliness, loss and emotional drought in general. It is, in a sense a vacation we do not want to take, yet one that is inevitable and sometimes very much needed. These images were shot with Holga and other toy cameras.

I have also included a new series mixed into the portraits section called "Best Friends". These pictures are glimpses into the world of childhood friendships and innocence.
